
Distinguished Senator Dr. Osita Ngwu, Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force has been conferred with the prestigious “Light Bearer” Award by the Cathedral Church of St. Mark’s, Isu-Awaa, Diocese of Awgu/Aninri, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in recognition of his support for the work of God and his remarkable contributions to community development. The honour was bestowed on the Senator during the Diocese’s Father’s Day celebration held on June 21st, 2026. Delivering his sermon, the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Benson N. Chukwunweike admonished fathers to remain committed to their divine responsibilities by providing moral and spiritual guidance to their children and sustaining values that promote love and harmony within the family. The Bishop also extended a warm welcome to worshippers, guests and award recipients, commending their selfless service to the Church and society.


The Enugu West senator who also serve as Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content, Ably represented by SPA on Constituency Matters, Awgu Local Government Area, Prince Emeka Joe Udeh, accompanied by Chief Jonas Nwude, SSA on grassroots mobilization, expressed profound gratitude to the Diocese for the recognition and reiterated his dedication to the advancement of humanity. In a gesture that underscored his commitment to the welfare of the People , Senator Ngwu announced the donation of ₦25 million for the installation of a solar-powered borehole at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark’s, Isu-Awaa, following an appeal by the Christian Men’s Fellowship which identified potable water as one of the Church’s pressing needs. The colourful occasion attracted prominent personalities from various walks of life, including the Chairman of APC in Enugu State, Hon. Dr. Martin Chukwunwike (Ozoigbondu), Chief Dr. Queen Dillon (Ezenwanyi), Regional Manager of Wema Bank, Apostle Jerry Chijioke Harford, Sir Echezona Ani and Mrs. Roseline Igwe among other distinguished awardees and guests who commended the Senator’s enduring commitment to the Church and grassroots development.
