Without any iota of doubt or shred of dispute, Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu, the senator representing the good people of Enugu West Senatorial District in the Red Chambers, came prepared. The reason he hit the ground running immediately he was inaugurated without any excuse for not doing so. When majority of his colleagues in his class, the first timers are still learning the ropes, fighting stage flight and nervousness, he is already at the floor of the Senate contributing to the business of the day, moving motions, seconding and sponsoring bills.
Today, anyone who understands the craft of politics, politicking in Nigeria, will not gainsay the fact that Senator Ngwu understands the business of the Nigerian Senate. That he mastered early enough the art of power play, the game and the politics in the upper legislative chamber, reason he was selected, appointed the Senate committee chairman on Solid Minerals at the constitution of the 10th Senate committees by the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly. Also, to ice the cake, Senator Ngwu was elected the Minority of the 10th Senate. He became a principal officer as a first time senator; the position he held until he voluntarily follows his governor to the ruling party, the APC. Then, he forgo the position and all its privileges. Indeed, RG is an attitude. Is RG for a reason.
Today, Senator Osita Ngwu is the Chairman of the Senate on Air Force. Vice Chairman of many standing committees. Secretary of the prestigious South East Senate Caucus. Member Senate 20 member committee on national security. Member Senate committee on the completion of the East-West road. At the Global stage, Senator Ngwu is the Vice Chairman, Standing Committee on Health, ECOWAS Parliament. Member 6th Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament. Member Inter Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU). This is quite an uncommon feat and unprecedented for a first time senator. Indeed, he came prepared.
As at today also, Senator Ngwu already have 12 bills to his credit and numerous motions that has warranted and propelled the upper legislative chamber to constitute a high powered committee, ordered relevant agencies to investigate the subject matter of the motion and submit their findings. Such motions includes the motion for the comprehensive review of the input and output values of the Nigerian mining industry in the light of its central role to economic diversification, foreign exchange earning and social inclusion, and the motion to investigate and end the disparity in the Federal Character in terms of employment and other considerations. Infact, in the 10th Senate today, Senator Ngwu is unarguably among the top ten senators that has sponsored the highest number of bills and moved impactful and relevant motions at the floor of the Senate. Give him his flower, he came prepared.
On the projects he has attracted so far to better the lots and improve the living standard of his constituents, Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu have attracted numerous life saving and live changing projects in all the 81 wards, and communities of Enugu West. The projects are currently in four (4) different stages. 1, Some of the projects are already completed and delivered. 2, Some are still ongoing. 3, Some were started but unfortunately stalled due to funding challenges from the federal government. 4, Some were awarded but still awaiting for mobilization (Funding issue yet).
To break it down, in 2024 budget, Senator Ngwu attracted many projects, and that particular budget happens to be the only budget that has performed, (where capital projects were funded since he assumed office as a senator). Though, even, that budget (2024) still performed below full year budget circle. It performed less than 70%.
In 2025, its budget recorded zero performance. Zero! And this is quite unfortunate. In that budget (2025), Senator Ngwu have more than 115 projects for his people.
And come to this year’s own, 2026 budget, it’s yet to take off; yet to record any performance. Also, Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu have over 125 capital projects there!
So invariably, whenever the funding of capital projects in the aforementioned budgets (mostly that of 2025 & 2026) commenced, Enugu West will be turned into a construction site. Projects will be ongoing in all the wards and communities of Enugu West, courtesy of Senator Osita Ngwu’s legislative sagacity and his preparedness and passion for the job.
So dear good people of Enugu West, from all indication, we can see that our dear senator came prepared. That he’s not sleeping on the wheel, or warming the seat in the red chambers, rather, he’s performing exceptionally, performing beyond expectation. He deserved his flower no doubt. And with his deserved and merited reelection come 2027, it can only get better and better for us in Enugu West. Senator Ngwu (RG) came prepared, and like a fine brewed wine, the longer it last, the more better it becomes.
In Enugu West, it’s Continuity for PNM. It’s Continuity for RG, for our continuous progress. And so shall it be!
